Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 7, 1954.

The arms show the towe rof the local church, the only historical monument in the town. The village historically was ruled by the Counts of Moers and the Archbishops of Köln, which is symbolised by the two small shields. The church is placed on a canting mountain (Berg).
