KRAKAUHINTERMÜHLEN

State : Steiermark
District : Murau
Incorporated into : 2015 Krakau

Wappen von Krakauhintermühlen

Official blazon

In Silber über einer schwarzen Krähe erhöht balkenförmig ein rotes Ornamentband von drei Fünfpaßrosetten.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 1, 1982.

The Krakau is a valley in the mountains of Upper Styria, near the state border to Salzburg. The Styrian Krakau valley does not have anything in common with the great Polish city of Cracow. The name means "Krähengegend" (crows' land). All three of the municipalites in the Krakau have had crows included in their arms as a canting reference.

The cinquefoil rosettes are taken from the local church of St. Ulrich.
