NO 796 SQUADRON, FAA
History: First formed in 1942 at Port Reitz, Kenya as the Eastern Fleet Torpedo-Bomber Reconnaissance Pool until disbanded in 1944. Reformed in 1947 at Royal Naval Air Station St. Merryn, Cornwall as the Aircrewman's School. Disbanded in 1959.

The badge was approved in 1949. The Latin Motto translates as "We know where we are going".
