HMCS PROVIDER, ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY
Official blazon
Azure, an ancient Greek amphora garinished around the base of the neck with maple leaves, and on the main body of the vessel , a foul anchor erect all of or. / D'azure, à l'amphore grecque antique garnie à la base du col de feuilles d'érable et sur le corps d'une ancre surjalée, le tout d'or.
Motto: (not shown) "Ready to serve".
Origin/meaning
The amphora suggests the ship's function of storing and dispensing supplies. The superimposed maple leaves and foul anchor indicate that the ship belongs to the Royal Canadian Navy. The golden colour of the amphora is representative of yellowish colour of oil, a major item of Provider's replenishment stores and the dark blue background is generally known as navy blue.
Literature: Sent by the Canadian Embassy in Oslo.
