STEINMAUERN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Rastatt

Wappen von Steinmauern/Arms (crest) of Steinmauern
Official blazon
German

In Silber das rote Ortszeichen in Form einer Wagendeichsel mit zwei Vorderrädern.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The oldest known seal of the town dates from 1563 and already shows the, still unexplained, symbol in a shield. All later seals show the same symbol, which were officially described in 1901 as a wagon-axis with two turned wheels. The colours were chosen arbitrarily, as no historical colours were known.
