NO 101 SQUADRON, ROYAL AIR FORCE
History: Raised at Farnborough in July 1917.
Official blazon
Issuant from the battlements of a tower proper, a demilion rampant guardant Or.
Motto: Mens agitat molem.
Origin/meaning
The tower is a symbol of the Squadron's claim to have been the first to fly Airplanes equipped with powered rotating gun-turret. The Lion symbolises fighting spirit. The Motto translates as "Mind over matter". The badge was granted in February 1938.
