AFFALTRACH
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Heilbronn
Incorporated into : 1972 Obersulm
Official blazon
- (1928) In Blau ein bewurzelter silberner Apfelbaum, oben rechts ein silbernes Johanniterkreuz.
- (1967) In Blau ein silbernes Johanniterkreuz.
Origin/meaning
the arms were officially granted on November 10, 1967.
The arms show a cross for the Order of St. John as the village was a longtime possession of the Order.
The previous arms were proposed in 1914 but adopted only in 1928.
These arms combined a canting element, an apple tree (Affoltern is old German for apple tree) with the cross of the Order. The municipality, however, was not too pleased with the apple tree and thus asked for only a cross.
