EICHENDORF

Wappen von Eichendorf

Official blazon

In Rot zwei silberne Schrägbalken; auf dem mittleren roten Streifen im Obereck eine silberne Kugel.

Origin/meaning

Originally the arms date from the early 16th century and are clearly derived from the arms of Landau an der Isar. Eichendorf was already a town (Markt) in the 13th century and received the same privileges as Landau in 1358. The ball is probably just a symbol to distinguish the arms even more. The ball has always been used in the arms on the official seals of the town, but otherwise, on images and buildings, the ball is often not used. The present arms are in use since the end of the last century and include the ball.
