German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

LÖVENICH

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Heinsberg (until 1972 Erkelenz)
Incorporated into : 1971 Erkelenz

Wappen von Lövenich (Erkelenz)

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 15, 1955.

The arms are based on the seal of the court of Lövenich from the 16th century. The lion is the lion of the Counts of <a href=j/julich|Jülich]] as the area historically belonged to the County Jülich. The three hops flowers symbolise the former importance of the culture of hops in the area.
