MØRE OG ROMSDAL PROVINCE
Norwegian |
Origin/meaningThe arms were granted on March 15, 1978. The three (Viking-)ships refer to the former importance of shipbuilding and shipping in the region. They also symbolise the three districts in the province, Sunnmøre, Romsdal and Nordmøre.The masts form a cross, which symbolises the strong Christian and religious beliefs as well as the strong religious organisations in the province.
