Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
GIEBOLDEHAUSEN
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Göttingen (until 1973 Duderstadt)
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Gieboldehausen
Official blazon
Schild geteilt; oben in Gold ein roter Giebel mit schwarzen Fachwerkbalken; unten in Rot das sechsspeichige goldene Rad
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 9, 1950 and show in the upper half a canting house in the local style. The house specifically showed the Haus auf dem Walle, a local estate built in 1510 by the Von Minnigerode family.
The lower half shows the wheel of the State of Mainz, as the village became a loan of the Archbishops of Mainz in the late 14th century, and they finally bought the village in the 15th century. The village remained a possession of Mainz until 1803.
