KEMME
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Hildesheim
Incorporated into : 1974 Schellerten
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ??-??-19??.
The arms show a medieval comb, taken from the arms of Bernward von Kemme from 1265. He was a member of a family that owned a large part of the village, which was sold to the Abbey in Hildesheim in 1236. The family became extcint in the 14th century. The comb is a canting element (Kamm in German). The colours were decided when the arms were granted and are not historical.
