WIES

State : Steiermark
District : Deutschlandsberg
Additions : 2015 Limberg bei Wies, Wernersdorf, Wielfresen

Wappen von Wies (Steiermark)/Arms (crest) of Wies (Steiermark)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 21, 1922.

The arms contain references to Styria (panther), the Faith (church), industry and mining (the coal mines at Wies were very important after World War I, when most of Austria was freezing and starving) and agriculture (sickle).
