Province (Landskap): Gästrikland
County (Län): Gävleborgs län
Additions : 1943 Högbo; 1971 Järbo, Ovansjö, Storvik, Årsunda, Österfärnebo

Sandviken kommunvapen

Official blason

I blått fält en ånghammare, på vardera sidan åtföljd av ett i ginstammen placerat järnmärke, allt i silver.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1943.

The arms show a large steam-driven hammer, the largest in Europe at the time. It symbolises the strong industrial character of the city at the time. The two iron symbols also indicate the importance of the iron works in the town.
