MATHIAS LEONARDUS TRUDON BRANS

Deceased: December 12, 1969
Prefect of Padang, 1923-1932
Apostolic Vicar of Padang, 1932-1941; Titular Bishop of Corna
Apostolic Vicar of Medan, 1941-1954
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The first quarter shows the motto (..) taken from Luke IV. The golden colour refers to pain and sorrow. The second quarter shows the pierced hands of the Franciscan Order, to which he belonged. The third quarter shows a boat and an axe, which both refer to St. Matthew, the patron saint of the bishop. The fourth quarter shows the rock of St. Peter and the (tropical) palm trees that flourish on the rock, a symbol for the missionary work.
