History: The Unit was formed at Altringham in April 1924.

Motto: Secundus sed nulli secundis = Second, but second to none.

Origin/meaning

The Unit claims that it was the first of its Type, and the Ark is considerered a fitting symbol for this. The badge was granted in August 1945.
