AMBROSIUS JACOBUS JOHANNES VAN BAARS
Born : April 6, 1854
Deceased : March 25, 1910
Apostolic Vicar of Curaçao, 1897-1910; Titular Bishop of Teuchira
Dutch | Een uit de bovenschildrand komende keper van blauw beladen met een verkort kruisje van zilver; de hoeken boven de keper van zwart en onder in zilver een baars van naturel. Devies: Crux virtus mea. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The chevron and cross are the symbol of strength and Christianity and resemble a church gable. The black and silver are the colours of the Dominicans, the order to which the bishop belonged. The base shows a canting perch (Baars in Dutch).
