Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 21, 1923.

The arms are based on the seal of the local council dating from 1696. The meaning and origin of the arms, however, is not known. Similar arms already appeared on a overview of the arms of the villages in the Vrije van Brugge in 1619.

Literature: Servais, 1955
