Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on November 23, 2011.

The colours are those of the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu on which Saint-Symphorien depended, the azure also referring to the Ance river.

The Aquilons evoke Bel-Air ('good air'), the bee the martyrdom of Saint Synphorien. The Aquilons blow in two bouffadous in order to recall the legend of Bouffarel, the place where a shepherd would have discovered that this magic instrument used by the witches made it possible to rekindle the fire.

I have no information on the fleur-de-lys and the rose. Literature: Image from http://www.armorialdefrance.fr
