Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 2003.

The municipality applied for arms early 2003 and many proposals were sent to the State Archives. Finally the above composition was agreed upon. The small wavy bar refers to the Redlefurth river.

The sword refers to the castle in the village and the court that was part of it. The point downwards is a symbol of peace.

The four stars are taken from the arms of the Von Sparr family, which have been very influential in the village for 4 centuries. The stars also symbolise the four villages and hamlets in the municipality.
