HMCS TORONTO, ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY

Coat of arms (crest) of the HMCS Toronto, Royal Canadian Navy

Official blazon

Badge: Azure upon a mural crown Argent masoned Sable a beaver couchant proper holding in its dexter paw a fid spike Or.
Motto: EXCELLENCE WITH VIGOUR.

Origin/meaning

The mural crown and beaver are from the old arms of Toronto. The mural crown makes reference to Old Fort York. The beaver symbolizes industry and the fact that Old Fort York was once a centre of the fur trade. The fid spike, a tool used to splice rope, represents the nautical world.

The Canadian Heraldic Authority confirmed the Blazon of the Badge on December 15, 2008.
