Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1952.

The upper part shows a horse, derived from the arms of Abbot Willibald Popp (1694-1753) of the Imperial Abbey of St. Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg. The city was a possession of the Abbey. The arms with the horse can be seen in the local church.

The lower half shows a cross, also derived from the arms of the Abbey. The wheel is a symbol for the industry in the city, which played an important role in the development since the mid 19th century.
