Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 25, 2010.

The arms show a walrus in front of a map of the district. The walrus is one of the traditional symbols of the Chukotka people and a common animal along the coast of the district. The six reindeer symbolise the importance of reindeer for the local population, as well as the six settlements in the district.
