Saint Martin of Tours is one of the most popular saints in heraldry. He is most often shown as a knight cutting his cloak in pieces for a beggar. However, sometimes this theme is shown rather differently, as in Utrecht (Netherlands), Senica (Slowakia) and several German arms. Below are several examples of arms with St. Martin. In the arms of Årup (Denmark) and Šmartno ob Paki (Slovenia) he is symbolised based on another legend, with geese alarming him.
