Dit is het Nederlandse deel van de site Heraldry of the World (Internationale Overheidsheraldiek) en bevat gegevens over alle ooit in Nederland verleende overheidswapens, maar ook over niet-officiële dorpswapens, voorzover daar gegevens van zijn. Ook de heerlijkheids-, religieuze en andere in het Register van de Nederlandse Wapens beschreven wapens zijn opgenomen.

Per gemeente zijn de provincie en eventuele wijzigingen aangegeven. Daarna volgen de beschrijvingen van het wapen of wapens en een afbeelding van het wapen. Tenslotte de verklaring van het wapen en de eventuele historische gegevens. De wapenbeschrijvingen zijn zoveel mogelijk ontleend aan het register van de Hoge Raad van Adel te Den Haag. Dit heeft echter wel tot gevolg dat het taalgebruik vaak erg archaisch en moeilijk te begrijpen valt.
