Oorsprong/verklaring :
Het wapen is afgeleid van het wapen van het kapittel van St.Jan te Utrecht, van 1085-1811 bestuurders van Mijdrecht (zie ook Achttienhoven UT).

Van den Bergh noemt een zegel uit 1272, waarop een staande man, aan beide zijden vergezeld van lelies.
