VAXHOLM


Origin/meaning:
The arms were registered in 1988.
The arms of Vaxholm contains pictures from old seals, and was granted the town in 1944. The fortress tower reminds of the fortification that's been present here since the days of King Gustavus I. 1974-1983 Vaxholm also contained what is now the Commune of Österåker, and was the bearing the arms which before and since has been used by the latter.
