MALÅ

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially registered in 1984.
The arms of Malå alludes to forestry (the axes), copper resources (the colour gules) and the river Malån (the wavy partition). These arms were created in 1962, but were without official validity from 1974-1983, when Malå was a part of the Commune of Norsjö.

On the homepage of the commune have the arms of Malå on some places what looks like a mural crown, a crown which this municipality is not entitled to bear, as it has never been a town.

Literature : Nevéus and de Waern, 1992
