NORTH WEST PROVINCE
Origin/meaning:
The provincial coat of arms for the North West province were registered
with the Bureau of Heraldry on 7 May 1999.
The colours of the arms are based on the colours of the national flag. The jug in the middle of the shield symbolises the historical Tswana culture.
The 'crown' is made from buffalo horns, the buffalo is a symbol of strength and a typical animal in the area, and a sunflower. The sunflower symbolises joy and fertility.
The two supporters are Sable antelopes.
The motto Kagiso le Tswelelopele translates as "Peace and prosperity."
