Origin/meaning: The structure drawn twice in the arms is literally known as the "Guardian of the Gulch". This is a watch tower built in 1874 for the purpose of looking for forest fires. It still stands at the end of Last Chance Gulch and as demonstrated by its appearance on the Helena city homepage, http://www.ci.helena.mt.us/ ,it is a symbol of the community.
