Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted on October 20, 1995.
The arms are based on the historical arms of the city, which showed a monastery. The first arms of the city were granted on January 22, 1796 and showed the monastery in the base, and in the upper half the provincial arms of Volynska province.

In 1859 B. Kene designed new arms for the city, with the same symbolism, but now with the provincial arms in the first quarter. The arms were not adopted.
