Origin/meaning: The oldest arms of the city, granted in 1497 by the Lithuanian Grand-Duke showed the local patron saint, St. Peter. ![]() On March 15, 1864, B.Kene proposed new arms for the town with a slightly different composition. The arms showed the main castle again, but more clearly partially destroyed. The first quarter shows the arms of the province. The arms were not confirmed. ![]()
