VILAMITJANA
Province : Lleida
Origin/meaning:
The fleur-de-lis is the attribute of the Virgin Mary, the local patron saint. The partition on the arms is an allusion to the name of the village, that means "middle town" in Catalan. These arms haven't got a crown at the top, differently to what is usual in all Catalan arms, because Vilamitjana belongs to the municipality of Tremp (to which it was included in 1972), and it's no longer a municipality itself, but a minor local entity. These arms have been officially granted on 15th November 1991.
