Origin/meaning:
Canting arms: they show traditionally a towered tower ("torre" in Catalan) and the cross of Malta, the emblem of the Hospitallers. The village developed around an Islamic tower or farmhouse, it was conquered by Ermengol VI of Urgell in mid 12th century, incorporated to the bishopric of Lleida and given to the Hospitaller order of St. John of Jerusalem. These arms have been officially granted on 26th July 1988.
