SALÀS DE PALLARS
Province : Lleida
Origin/meaning:
The traditional arms of the town show the double-headed eagle of the counts of Pallars (with the escutcheon with straws inside, that is canting: the straws are named "palles" in Catalan), because the local castle (11th century, shown too on the arms) belonged to this county, later marquisat. These arms have been officially granted on 3rd December 1987.
