Heraldica Española - Spanish Civic Heraldry
SALAMANCA

Salamanca was conquered by Alfonso VI of Castille in 1085. The arms show the arms of the kingdom of Aragon and the old Roman bridge over de Tormes River. I know nothing on the origin of wolves' heads, which on a Spanish stamp appear as snakes. Louda doesn't give any heads at all (see below).
