![]() The village of Sahagun was founded in the 11th century near the local Benedictine monastery. The arms show St. Martin, the patron saint of the village. Unlike most images of St. Martin, the saint is not shown with a beggar near him. The bordure is a combination of the arms of Castilla (castle) and Leon (lion). The arms are supposed to be based on the oldest seal of the town, but this seal does no longer exist. Literature : picture send by Rafael Portell, Spain
