SANT QUIRZE DEL VALLÈS
Province : Barcelona
Origin/meaning:
Canting arms: they show a saw, alluding to the former name of the village, Sant Quirze de la Serra; in Catalan "serra" refers both to a saw and to a mountain range (in this case, the Serra de Galliners, where the village is placed). The crossed branches of laurel are a traditional sign on the arms, maybe symbolizing the martyr St. Cyricus (or Quiricus), the local patron saint. These arms have been officially granted on 13th June 1990.
