SANT PERE DE RIUDEBITLLES
Province : Barcelona
Origin/meaning:
The crossed keys are the symbol of St. Peter, the patron saint of the village. The sprig of watercress above is a canting sign: the town is placed by the Riu de Bitlles, and the etymology of this river comes from Latin BIRLAS (derived from BERULAS), meaning "watercress" (or Nasturtium officinale), a plant that grows in pure waters. These arms have been officially granted on 13th November 1995.
