RIELLS I VIABREA
Province : Girona
Origin/meaning:
Compound arms: the first partition shows the canting arms of Riells (name derived from Latin RIVULOS, "little rivers, creeks"). The second partition shows the arms of Viabrea: a river (the Riera de Sant Llop) behind a bush of heather, which has been traditionally the main economic resource of the village. The brooms that Barcelona council used for sweeping its streets were made with Viabrea's heather. These arms have been officially granted on 30th April 1999.
