Origin/meaning:
The municipality of Els Plans de Sió was formed in 1974 when Les Pallargues (nowadays the chief town) and L'Aranyó merged. The arms allude to both villages, and are canting: they show three "palles" (Catalan for "straws") representing Les Pallargues, and an "aranya" (Catalan for "spider") representing L'Aranyó. These arms have been officially granted on 6th September 1994.
