OLIVELLA

Province : Barcelona

Origin/meaning:
The key and the staff are the attributes of St. Peter (the local patron saint) as Heaven's gatekeeper and first bishop. The cross above is a traditional sign of the arms of the village; in fact, the ancient castle of Olivella (10th century) has been a possession of the bishops of Barcelona. The arms have been officially granted on 23th January 1992.
