NOVILLAS
Province : Zaragoza
Origin/meaning :
The arms were designed in October 1963.
The arms are canting, novilla meaning a young cow. The eagle is the symbol of St. John, as the village belonged to the Order of St. John from 1312-1821.
Another explanation links the cows to the arms of Béarn, in France. The Lords of Novillas of the Atarés family had descended through marriage from the Lords of Béarn.
