MELILLA

Origin/meaning:
The arms of Melilla are derived from the arms of the Duke of Medina Sidonia in Cadiz, the Spanish conqueror of de city. The baskets were placed on a blue field, symbolising the Alboran Sea.
The border shows the combined arms of Castille (castle) and Leon (lion). The upper right arms show the complete present arms of the city, with several elements from the Spanish National arms.
