(L)A CORUÑA
Origin/meaning:
The town was founded long before Roman times. The arms show the tower of Hercules, a famous lighthouse in the city. The scallops are the badges of St. James (Santiago). A Coruña is close to Santiago de Compostella and many pelgrims came ashore in the harbour of A Coruña.
