CLARIANA DE CARDENER

Province : Lleida

Origin/meaning:
The arms powdered with stars Argent on Gules are traditional in the municipal seals of the village. They have been officially granted on 6th February 1995, and are canting: they remind the brightness ("claror" in Catalan) of a sky full of stars and with no clouds.
The castle of Clariana (11th century), now in ruins, belonged to the viscounts (later dukes) of Cardona.
