BANYOLES
Province : Gerona
Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted on June 16 1983.
The town of Banyoles, laying near a picturesque lake, is known too by the
so-called "Banyoles jaw", an ancient vestige of a pre-neanderthalian man, 90.000 years
old. The arms show traditionally a letter B (the initial of the town's name) and the four
gules pales on gold of the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon.
