Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted on December 18, 1986.
The arms show two churches, and that refers to the etymology of the town's name, derived from a later Latin "eclesiis" or 'church'. The churches also represent the two former municipalities, Anglès and La Cellera de Ter, which was merged with Anglès. The black goat above is an allusion to the viscounts of Cabrera, medieval Lords of the town (this sign is canting: a goat is named "cabra" in Catalan). Finally, the arms show an elm tree at the base. The tree is a canting element, as it is derived from the arms of the Olmera family, Lords of the town in the 18th century.
