VORONEZH

Origin/meaning:
The first arms of the city were granted on September 21, 1781. The arms showed an imperial two-headed eagle and the jar as in the second arms. From the jar the Voronezh river originates. Other sources mention the water as a source of sacred water, as there was a special spring in the town, to which healing properties were attributed. The above arms were granted on January 23, 1881.
