Origin/meaning:
The arms were officially granted on July 28, 1642 with as a crest a European bison.

In the same year the city acquired a seal showing the arms. All later seals have shown the same image. The meaning of the arms is not known, the arms most likely refer to the royal hunting grounds in the area.
